These behemoths rule the skies. They are massive, storing clones... but what else?
At the moment they are big, huge, shiny objectives. Naught but NPC controlled target practice. But in the future, they hold the potential to be a force in their own rights.
My MCC as a Carrier thread covers most of what I'd like to see, but here is a revamped view with an eye toward customizing the MCC, and your Command Style.
Mobile Command Centre - Gallente Fitting Slots 4 - High Slots 2 - Medium Slots 6 - Low Slots
The fitting for the majority will be similar to EVE. So in essence, you can 'tank' your MCC. The Gallente MCC may get a bonus to Repair Rate (ala EVE-side Gallente) so you Fit your lows thusly.
- Armour Repairer - Armour Repairer - Armour Resistance Module - Armour Resistance Module - Capacitor Relay - Capacitor Relay
Dual tank means you'll survive quite well once you get into Armour, but you wont be able to maintain the tank indefinitely.
In your Mid Slots, you fit Capacitor Batteries, increasing your Capacitor Amount, allowing your Repairers to run longer.
- Capacitor Battery - Capacitor Battery
Now we come to the important part... the High Slots.
High Slots in EVE Online generally house weapons, or Utility Items. In the case of DUST, there should be a selection of many different modules, including, but not limited to:
Cannon Each Cannon can deal damage to a target of the pilot's choosing. A slow rate of fire, but moderate damage means that in general, 1 Cannon will out-damage 1 Armour Repairer.
Sub-Orbital Missile Launcher Replacing the War barge Strike, the Sub-Orbital Missile Launcher would fire a precision missile into the sky, that will come down at the designated target area anywhere that is lazed by infantry. It must be guided thus until it begins it's approach. (Approximately 10 seconds). It has a Cooldown on 5 minutes, and only 1 can be fitted.
Drop Pod Launcher The answer to those who've been harassing CCP for 'Drop-In Spawns' but haven't bothered to use Dropships. This modules allows for DUST mercs to be 'loaded' into Drop Pods and fired in an arc across the map to a point chosen by the MCC Pilot. Only 2 can be fitted, can each hold a squad, and can fire only once every 5 minutes.
More modules will be added.
For the time being, to use the above example of the Gallente MCC, the 4 High Slots could be configured thusly.
- Cannon - Cannon - Sub-Orbital Missile Launcher - Drop Pod Launcher
In addition, as standard, it carries the 'corporation' assets (such as Dropships, fighters, tank, LAVs, so on and so forth). As well as housing a Vehicle Creation Node so that when you spawn inside the MCC, you can move to a control panel, create your tank, LAV, or Dropship, and immediately get into it on the MCC as it is deployed. |

1) Weapons will be balanced to their power as stated above. Maybe a quick calculation for this..
Max HP repairable (inclusive of skills etc) by a Repairer... + 10%. So an MCC on MCC Battle will take time, but will run it's course.
2) WHen it comes to Skirmishes, if you read my thread on Open Worlds... the Skirmish can be accomplished in more than one way by utiliseing and stealing CRUs (each having their own number of clones assigned to them).
Skirmish is also an 'instant' battle. Instanced Battles can be fronted by some entity that puts both MCCs into play at their own expenditure.
I'm not a fan of the latter... but it's a viable option short of an Open World. |
